Echofon for Firefox appears conveniently within your browser window. This is especially handy if you click a lot of links in tweets or post a lot of links as you browse. Clicked links open in new tabs and you can insert a link to the current page in one click. When you close the main window, you can still see the number of unread tweets in your status bar, just click the Echofon logo to reopen the window.
The familiar Twitter timeline is just a click away. View tweets from those you follow. New tweets are shown with a light blue background. Hover over any tweet to reveal reply and favorite buttons.
If you like instant updates, look no further than popup view. In fact, you won’t have to look far at all. Echofon for Firefox supports optional popup notifications for each tweet posted by someone you follow. These popups show up at the bottom of the browser window right by the Echofon icon.
All your mentions and replies are conveniently grouped in the mentions tab. You can reply to a specific tweet by clicking the reply button that shows up when you hover over it.
The messages tab has your most recent direct messages. When you click reply on a tweet in this tab, it will be set up as a direct message to that person.
It’s easy to write tweets as you browse the web. If you want to share the website you are currently viewing, just click the link button and its URL will automatically be inserted into your tweet.
